  • Advising and represented one of the parties in a complex US$800 million joint venture.
  • Assisted the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (alongside IFC/World Bank Group), in drafting legislation for an electronic warehouse receipt system to facilitate collateralised agri-financing and the trading of agri-commodities on an exchange.
  • Advising, representing, and negotiating on behalf of a local partner in a $500 million joint-venture with two oil & gas majors, for purposes of developing a domestic LNG terminal.
  • Successfully advising the banking sector, institutional clients, and high-net-worth individuals on obligatory disclosures and regulatory compliance following the enactment of legislation pursuant to the Financial Action Task Force action plan for Pakistan.
  • Carrying out a due diligence of and advising on an investment in a 1 GW power project.
  • Advising on the successful acquisition of HSBC Bank’s Pakistan operations.
  • Advising, representing, and negotiating on behalf of one of Pakistan’s top four banks on the formation, through merger, of one Pakistan’s largest Asset Management Companies
  • Representing and successfully advising the state-owned oil distributor in competition proceedings emanating from the disinvestment of Shell Pakistan.
  • Successfully advising one of Pakistan’s largest banks on the development of the country’s first fully electronic system for the clearing of cheques.
  • Successfully advising a major international bank on the regulatory aspects of setting up remote offices from the perspective of the banking and telecommunication law.
  • Successfully advising several Pakistani banks on their modified security registration obligations following amendments to the securitisation law and the introduction of the electronic secured transaction registry.
  • Successfully advised the joint-venture partners on the transaction documents and joint venture agreements for the acquisition of the Pakistan Operations of a Fortune 500 chemical company.
  • Advising and representing the Insurance Association of Pakistan on the applicability of Sales Tax on Services on insurance premiums, the collective liability in respect of which is in the hundreds of millions of US Dollars.
  • Successfully advising the Mutual Funds Association of Pakistan on obtaining an exemption from the applicability of Sales Tax on Services on management fees, the collective liability in respect of which was in the tens of millions of US Dollars.

  • Conducted a training seminar for World Bank/IFC on Warehouse Financing and Collateralized Commodity Financing models for experienced commercial bankers in Pakistan.
  • Part of a five-member multidisciplinary team which authored ‘Private Silo Warehousing for Pakistan’s Grains’, a USAID Report to encourage the use of electronic documents of title in agri-warehousing and collateral financing.
