Diversity and inclusiveness are integral to AMJ’s culture at every level and in every aspect. We take pride in having cultivated a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to achieve their full potential in the service of the Firm’s goals, regardless of factors such as national origin, ethnicity, religion, gender or age.
We believe our success is founded upon a long-term strategy of recruiting, retaining, and promoting lawyers and support professionals of diverse origins and with expertise gained in numerous international jurisdictions. The varied backgrounds, approaches and insights of all our people reflect the diversity of the community in which we live and work and enhance the quality of legal services we provide to a broad international client base. We value their ability to adapt to differing clients’ needs, communication styles and ways of doing business in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.
Today, our in-country team of more than 17 international lawyers, Omani advocates and support professionals is the strongest and most diverse in Oman. It comprises nationals of nine countries from five continents who between them speak all of the business languages used in Oman, in addition to English. A significant number speak Arabic, the official language of law and government. Women are represented at all levels of management and account for one third of the workforce overall.
Crucially, the diversity of our workforce enables us to offer an enriching experience for our young Omani lawyers and support staff who comprise more than a third of the workforce.
AMJ has a legacy of training and mentoring the largest contingent of Omani lawyers of any law firm in the country, some of whom occupy senior leadership positions in the judiciary, public prosecutors’ office, prestigious companies, government organisations and private practice. Each year the Firm appoints new Omani trainee lawyers, male and female, and is committed to training and developing its young Omani lawyers by allowing them to gain maximum exposure to domestic and international transactions with the aim of helping to develop the next generation of Omani Lawyers and ultimately develop the legal landscape of the Sultanate. We remain committed to further expansion and the promotion of Omani lawyers to senior leadership roles in an atmosphere of transparency and equal opportunity. Our goal is to contribute to nation building by developing a new generation of high-calibre lawyers capable of building and perpetuating a robust and vibrant legal profession in Oman.
